Women's Ministry Mentoring Groups
What is the hope of mentoring?
The goal of these groups is that women would enter into relationship with a small group of women, with the hope of knowing God more and allowing Him to change our lives in the process. Mentoring is essentially "to prepare God's people for works of service"(see Ephesians 4:11-13). We believe that those that have gone before us in certain areas are called to teach and equip, as well as challenge us to go through these processes ourselves.
What will these groups look like?
Each of these groups will consist of one mentor and 3-4 other ladies meeting twice a month over the course of three months to grow in a particular topic. We will offer a variety of study options and a variety of days and times. See below for a description of the different topics, as well as information about meeting day, time, place, and if there is a particular target age or stage for the group.
How do I register for a group?
Read below to look at the different groups offered. We are purposefully not including the names of the ladies who are leading each group. We want your desire for a mentor to be centered on an area of spiritual growth, not the particular mentor. Choose two groups that are on times/dates that you can meet and rank them according to your preference. Please send your preferences in order to our Women's Ministries Coordinator, Kendra Aguilar at: KendraAguilar@cfcfboston.org
These requests will be sorted in the order they are received, so the earlier you send your preference, the more likely you are to receive your first choice. If we do not have enough slots for all the women who would like to be in mentoring relationships this fall, we hope to continue to add new groups each quarter and will inform you when they begin. Please sign up by October 3rd if you are interested.
What am I committing to if I sign up?
By signing up for one of these groups, you are committing to coming twice a month and completing any assignments your group has. Please consider carefully if you have the time in this quarter to commit to a mentoring relationship. Also, please consider this with a communal mindset. If you sign up for a group that you cannot truly commit to, you may take someone else's spot who would have benefited from mentoring. Each of these mentors is committing their time to you and it is important that you consider carefully your own availability. Obviously, unforeseen emergencies arise, but in general, if you join a group, you are committing to it for the quarter (3 months and 6 meetings).
Why should I join a group?
We all need to grow in our walk with the Lord. If you long to walk with an "older" woman in the faith and experience the benefits of having someone pray for you, encourage you and dig into the word with you, then this is your opportunity! I highly recommend that you consider taking the time to be mentored. If you have never been in a formal mentoring relationship, this may serve as a model for you so that you will be able to mentor others. We hope that as more and more women are mentored, they will be faithful to pass on what they have learned to others. Essentially, we hope you will grow yourself, as well as be built up to pass on what you have learned to others.
Here is a sample list of groups we have offered:
Walking in Sexual Freedom
This class is designed to help women (single or married) walk in sexual freedom, both in our identity and in our actions and thoughts. This is not a "how-to" class, but a deeper look into God's design and desire for us to live free and unashamed as wholehearted women. We will dive into His word and spend time discussing how God designed our bodies, minds, and hearts for intimacy. We will discuss our tendencies, both righteous and unrighteous, and share practical ways to pursue and protect our freedom. We will practice listening to His voice and hearing His thoughts about the way He designed us as sexual beings. We will explore how we can walk out in our identities without shame and within His perfect intention. Please note: This is not a class designed for sexual abuse recovery; however, survivors are welcome.
Meeting: Saturdays from 10-12 pm on the following dates: October 10, October 17, November 7 and November 14. Attendees are strongly encouraged to commit to attend all 4 groups.
Ministering in the Holy Spirit
We long to have an impact on those around us and to minister to them the goodness in God that we have experienced. However, when we operate in our own power and ability we can become weary, apathetic or disillusioned. However, when we tap into the truth and power of the Holy Spirit we see Him move and minister to us and others in transformative ways. This group will focus on hearing the voice of God and being women who host the presence of God - bringing His Kingdom in our own personal lives and in the lives of those we touch everyday! We will participate in interactive teachings, activities, study & practice to teach us to be more sensitive to and confident of His ministry through us.
Meetings: Saturday Mornings twice monthly
Location: Exact location to be determined with group
